Deuteronomy 6:4-9
What is primer or what is a primer? The online Merriam-Webster dictionary gives the following: A small book for teaching children to read - (to teach regardless of age) A small introductory book on a subject or a short infottru1tive piece of ·writing A compound used to ignite a spark - (needed to start a fire) A Base coat – a protective layer So, with that thought in mind, how do we put this into context with the passage of Scripture from today's message? This passage is frequently said to be the focal subject of Deuteronomy. It sets the example that causes us to relate the Word of God to our everyday lives. We are to adore God, ponder His instructions, show His precepts to our children, and live our lives by the rules in His Word. God accentuates the significance of showing the Bible to our kids. The church congregation and Christian schools cannot, or should not, be utilized to escape from this duty. The Bible gives so many chances for learning and pragmatic training that it would be a disgrace to contemplate it just one day a week. Everlasting facts are most viably learned in a loving and caring domain of a home that fears and love God.
To enable every age to learn how to obey God and to set their expectations in Him, God directed that His laws and acts be advised to children, that they ought to be passed from age to age. It is imperative for the next generation to learn from continuing with the same mistakes that the past generations have made. How are we passing on the works and Words of God?
This should not only apply to the physical age of people, but also to the spiritual age of people. In other words, not only should we teach the children but also the grown-ups. We need to provide learning of the Gospel to everyone. Young children learn to feed themselves, they learn to walk, and they learn to talk from their parents. We older Christians (in spiritual maturity), need to be teaching others God's Word.
Look at what our society has turned into. Look at what society considers more important to teach our children. Society does not to teach the children about their eternal soul but how to live a sinful life (transgender, homosexuality, lust, love of money, love of self, do what you want, etc). What will it take? What will God have to do to get His children (Christians) back in line? How much longer will Christians allow this evil world to control all aspects of life? Is thy heart right with God? Then act like it!
