We Can Escape

1 Corinthians 10:13
 
Our culture is filled with so much moral depravity so how can we escape? Regarding temptation, Paul offers the Corinthians strong support. He said that bad desires and temptations can happen to anyone, so do not think that we are the only ones at risk. We can also resist temptation, as others have. We can resist any temptation because God will assist us in doing so.
 
With God’s help, we can resist temptation if:
 
We RECOGNIZE it:

• People and situations that can give us trouble.
• Do we let the world influence more the Jesus influences our lives?

 
We RUN from it:

• Do not let ourselves get into a situation that can harm us.
• Stay away from anything we know is wrong
• 2 Timothy 2:22, Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

 
We do what is RIGHT:

• Choose to do what is right, whether you like it or not.
• 1Peter 2:13, Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme.

 
We make a REQUEST:

• Pray for God’s help
• Seek God in all things

 
We RESEARCH:

• Seek spiritual guidance from friends, family, church elders

 
 
We Cannot Escape God’s Judgement:

• Luke 13:27, But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
• Matthew 7:23, And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

 
 
Some Great Escapes in the Bible:

• Genesis 29-31 - Jacob left his father-in-law after 20 years of service.
• Exodus 2 - Moses and the Israelites left Egypt.
• Judges 16 - Samson, without God, his ability was wasted.
• Acts 16 - Paul & Silas focused and depended on God, then doors were opened.
• Acts 12 - Peter was freed from prison by extraordinary means when it was least expected.

 
 
Some Things We Can Escape:

Sickness

• Matthew 9:12, But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.  
  

Death

• Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.  

Loneliness

• Hebrews 13:5, Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  

Depression

• Matthew 28:20, Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.  

Fear

• Psalms 27:1, The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?  

Hunger

• John 6:48, I am the Bread of life.  

Thirst

• John 4:14, But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.  

Poverty

• Philippians 4:19, But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  

Hell

• John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life
• Hebrews 2:3, How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
• Romans 10:13, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

 

If Jesus had not prayed to God the Father “Thy will be done,” then He could not have said “It is finished.” If He had not said “It is finished,” then we would not be able to call upon His name. Because Jesus paid the debt, we can go free. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow.
