Hello, my name is Chris Swanson.
As a child, I grew up in a small country Baptist church and a Full-Gospel church in Georgia. As an adult, I have attended Independent Baptist, Non-Denominational, Southern Baptist, and Church of God. All have attributes that I like, but I do not believe that Jesus called us to be a denomination but to follow Him.
God called me into the ministry over 20 years ago and I have had the blessed opportunity to preach for a church radio broadcast, served as a Sunday School teacher, as a youth director along with my wife, as a music director, as an Associate Pastor, and as an Interim Pastor.
I prefer a traditional country church worship service, where the 1611 King James Version (KJV) is utilized, and the music comes from the old red back church hymnal. My favorite style of music is Southern Gospel and Bluegrass Gospel, but I do enjoy some Praise/Worship, and Contemporary Christian music as well.

Mankind has made up the denominations based on their beliefs and how they interpreted the Scriptures. There was a 1980’s contemporary Christian group called 4Him. They did a song called ‘The Basics of Life.’ In my younger days, I just liked the song, the melody, and the harmonies in it. As I got older, I began to see the message. Christians need to put aside their differences quit bickering over things that should not matter. We need to get back to the Basics of Life.
Christians need to quit dividing themselves because some believe of laying on of hands, speaking in tongues, women cannot preach or teach, we can or cannot have instruments in church, there is to be no dancing, women cannot wear make-up in church, handling snakes, etc. Christians need to get back to the basics of Christianity, and that is, what Christ did for us. All of humanity that have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, were given a command to go unto all the world and preach the Gospel. Go tell others of the price that Christ paid for our sins. Keep it simple.
A church service does not need to be so rigid that it follows a strict regime. Too many churches pass out a “menu” of what and how the service will go. There needs to be an order in a worship service, but when a man starts dictating everything that goes on during the service, it leaves out the opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move. And, if the Holy Spirit cannot move in the service, hearts will not be touched, and souls may not be saved.
I enjoy playing the rhythm guitar, bass guitar, and singing. During the 2020 pandemic, I was able to put my sermons into various paperback, hardback, and e-books that can be found on Amazon. You can also find my sermons on Sermon Central and other writings on Christianity.com.
